This policy brief documents the outcomes of the fifth in a series of six provincial-level dialogues on countering violent extremism in Punjab, organized by PIPS. It highlights intellectual and scholarly currents within Punjab’s historical and cultural context that provide frameworks for challenging extremist ideologies. The brief underscores the importance of historical awareness—drawing on Punjab’s 900-year intellectual and cultural heritage—to develop effective counter-narratives. By involving scholars, cultural voices, and civil society stakeholders, the dialogue emphasizes sustainable approaches rooted in scholarship and history rather than short-term security responses.
